In the Wild

A room where everyone already cares.

LeftField Media announced KPEX last week, a three-day Korean pop culture expo landing at the Javits Center over Memorial Day weekend 2027. The team behind it built Anime NYC, which drew 172,000 people to the same building this year.

That number matters less than the framing. Peter Tatara, one of the co-creators, describes the goal as giving fans and creators a place to call home in the center of New York City. Not a bigger audience. A home.

Purpose-built fandom events keep beating general-interest festivals on the thing brands actually want, which is a room where everyone present already cares. A sponsor at a broad festival buys proximity to a crowd. A sponsor at KPEX buys proximity to twenty-five million people who, by Tatara's count, have been waiting for somebody to build this.

The announcement is two years out. The sponsorship conversations are not.
