A room changes what people believe.
HubSpot retired Inbound after fifteen years and relaunched its flagship as Unbound, opening in Boston this week with more than 13,000 attendees and over 200 sessions, per Event Marketer. Giving up a name with that much equity is not a branding exercise. It is a company using its event to carry a repositioning that its other channels cannot carry alone. HubSpot is moving from marketing platform to what it calls an agentic customer platform, and the audience it now needs is wider than marketers. You can announce that in a press release and no one's mental model moves an inch. You change it by putting people in a room that has been organized differently. The format follows the same logic, with device free analog sessions and networking spaces curated by role and industry rather than by badge color. The event is not reporting the strategy. It is where the strategy becomes true for the people standing in it.
