In the Wild
15 years of INBOUND

BizBash | 28 September 2026

The equity sat in the week, not the word.

HubSpot retired INBOUND this month after fifteen years and ran the same event under a new name. BizBash reported that UNBOUND drew over 14,000 registrants across three days in September, with more than 1.6 million joining the livestream.

Renaming an owned event is one of the more expensive things a brand does quietly. Search history resets, and the returning-attendee list is keyed to a word that no longer exists. Every sponsor renewal conversation now opens with a question about what exactly is being renewed.

What HubSpot did not move was the date or the room. Kat Tooley, their VP of global events, told BizBash: "We treated it as a real shift, not just a new name." The floor supports her, from an NFC scavenger hunt running the venue to booths built to be stopped at rather than walked past.

The equity in an owned event was never the word on the banner. It is the week people already hold open.
