BizBash counted nine new event tools this month, and the pattern across them is more interesting than any one of them. InfiniSpeak runs two-way participation in 101 languages from an attendee's phone. CéSAR finds an attendee's own photos from a selfie. Integrated Exhibits is generating booth concepts and show themes. Fairfest's matchmaking is being deployed at WTE Miami.

Each one removes a friction organizers have priced in as a fixed cost of the format. Interpretation booths, photo galleries nobody searches, and matchmaking that happens by accident in a coffee line are all design decisions made around a limit.

That is the part worth planning around. A program built around a constraint keeps the shape of the constraint after the constraint is gone. The tools are easy to buy. The redesign they imply is the actual work.
